Miratorg increased beef production by 17% in 2021 and keeps the prices at the market level

Bryansk, March 9. Agribusiness Holding Miratorg, the leading vertically-integrated agricultural holding in Russia increased the production of marbled beef in 2021 and keeps its prices at the market level. Beef production was 200 thousand tonnes last year, which is 17.3% more than in 2020.
Over the past week Agribusiness Holding Miratorg did not massively increase the price of meat and of other products. Beef for mass market is within the market cost, as it was before. Rump, neck, shoulder blade, brisket, shank, and by-products are the main components of the carcass that can be found on store shelves, which makes up more than 85% of the animal’s carcass.
But in the market as a whole, the company points out a price hike for related goods and services – cereal and leguminous crops, mineral supplements, amino acids, compound animal feeds. The cost of veterinary medicines and, of course, the cost of loans has also risen greatly. Also since the beginning of the year, the price of animals (young cattle) that the company buys from farmers for further fattening has increased by 10%. It is also worth mentioning the increased costs of packaging and transportation. All of these factors have a significant impact on the growth of production costs. It is in connection with these indicators that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Russian government are now working on additional measures to support the industry in order to reduce the negative impact on production in the current environment.
Agribusiness Holding Miratorg is implementing an interregional fully integrated beef cattle breeding project from growing feeds to deep meat processing. The total number of cattle of the specialized beef breed Aberdeen Angus exceeds 820 thousand heads. The project continues to develop in accordance with the business plan. The prospects are related to increasing the number of beef cattle up to 1 million heads in the coming years using own resources. In 2022 the company plans to have a calf crop more than 300 thousand calves which is 10% more than in 2021 and is a record indicator, allowing to increase the production output of high-quality meat products of domestic production.
